To download your backed up data, click on ''Dataset Versions' in the Control-C portal...


Control-C allows you to see all historical backups, each of these daily backups are called a 'dataset'. These can be downloaded at anytime.

You can also track and see changes made into your Xero transactions e.g. Invoice, Bank Transactions, Contact details, Journals, etc. by comparing any two or more datasets. This article will guide you on how to traverse into different datasets that could help you see the changes in your transaction.



  1. Dataset Versions - The list of datasets that has been backed up from your organisation.
  2. Started On/Completed On - The date and time when the dataset has started and finished backing up.
  3. Status - The dataset status
    • Complete
    • In Progress
    • Xero API Daily Exceeded
  4. View - A view button which allows you to change between datasets. For example, I am currently viewing dataset 27. But I wanted to check the changes or what has been backed up during the dataset 1. Clicking on the button allows you to do that. When success, it will prompt you this success modal:
  5. Download - Allows you to download the full dataset. You can also choose to download full dataset with Journals, full dataset without Journals, and Journals only.
  6. Attachments - Allows you to download the attachments backed up in the selected dataset.
